Healthy Hall 2007 Community Assessment Summary Report

Notes on Secondary Research

In an effort to provide context to the Healthy Hall community assessment, this report provides data and information from secondary sources.

Here is an overview of major secondary data sources cited in this report:

  • US Census Bureau - Except where shown, data is from the 2006 census data release.  

  • Centers for Disease Control  - Lead federal agency responsible for protecting health and safety maintains and reports data on illness and risky behavior.

  • National Center For Health Statistics - The nation’s central agency for collecting and reporting health information. The NCHS annually conducts the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), a survey of 36,000 households. Data cited in this report are from the 2005 survey.

  • Georgia Department of Human Resources - A state agency responsible for administrating health and human services across Georgia.

  • Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation - An independent foundation that focuses on American health needs and health issues.

  • Hall County Commission for Children & Families - Authors of the 2007 Hall LIFE Report, a compilation of data and insights related to children, families and building a stronger community.

  • Vision 2030 - A visionary report on a countywide planning initiative that articulates community goals for the year 2030 and explores strategies to achieve them.

  • Georgia Department of Education/Safe & Drug Free Schools & Communities Report - A report on youth risky behavior based on a survey of 4,389 Hall County students conducted by the Hall County School System.

  •  Georgia Department of Labor - Publishes statistical information on Georgia workers and employers by county and region.

  • American Heart Association - A national organization focused on reducing coronary artery disease and stroke.

  •  US Department of Health & Human Services - A federal agency that administers health and social service programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, Head Start and other services.
