2003 Safe & Drug-Free Schools Report - Pot

When asked about experiences with pot (marijuana) the pattern of results are very similar to those for cigarette smoking.  Results indicate that by tenth grade, about one-fourth of students are using pot, at least experimentally.  Safe & Drug-Free Schools Report Table of Contents:

It appears that most in the tenth grade who use pot first used it in the eighth grade or later.

One in five tenth graders view pot as “pretty safe” or “very safe.”  Only about half of tenth graders view the practice as very dangerous.
