Huffing
and sniffing are the practices of inhaling fumes of substances to
produce a high or intoxicated feeling. Research indicates the practice is common among a small
percentage of Hall County students, and that most perceive the
dangers.

It is
interesting to note that the percent of tenth graders who think
huffing/sniffing is “very dangerous” is actually higher than
the fifth grade. This
is the only area of the study where this trend occurs.

While the
perception of use by peers is somewhat higher in tenth grade
compared to eighth grade, the difference is substantially less
than other areas of the study, indicating slow growth in this
practice between grades eight and ten. |
